One day, Abraham called in his faithful servant, Eliezer. He had a very important job for him to do. He was to go out of the land of Canaan and find a bride for his son, Isaac. Abraham knew what an important job it was, but he had confidence in his servant, Eliezer. He knew that he was the right man for that job!
Eliezer gathered ten of Abraham's camels along with gold and all of the other things he would need for the trip. He had no idea how he would find a bride for Isaac, but he trusted God and moved forward on his journey.
Eliezer soon found himself near the City of Nahor, in Mesopotamia. He had to make a decision. Should he walk around and look for the most beautiful girl in the city, or should he put it completely into the hands of God and let HIM decide who Isaac should marry?
The great servant Eliezer made the right choice: he decided to leave it up to God. Soon, he was by a well of water outside the city, where he started to pray.
"Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac..."
Eliezer prayed that the right girl would let him have a drink of her water, and not only that, but she would also offer water to his camels too.
Just then, as Eliezer was still praying, a beautiful young lady came out to the well. After she filled her pitcher, Eliezer ran up to meet her.
"Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher," Eliezer asked of her.
"Drink, my Lord," the beautiful Rebekah replied.
Eliezer must have been smiling while he drank from Rebekah's pitcher. Was this the one? Was the Lord answering his prayer so soon? He knew that if she was the one for Isaac, she would offer to water his camels too.
Then she said the right words, "I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking."
Eliezer stood there and watched beautiful Rebekah give the camels water until they could not drink any more. God had answered his prayer, He had sent Rebekah as a bride for Isaac!
Eliezer was totally convinced that she was the one, so he told Rebekah why he was really there. He told her all about Abraham, and his son, Isaac.
Rebekah believed everything Eliezer told her, and she trusted him to take care of her along the journey back to meet her new husband, Isaac.
It had to be an exciting journey for young Rebekah. Eliezer must have told her all about Isaac and what a great person he was, and what a great husband he would be. Rebekah got more and more excited until the day finally came that she saw him for the first time!
Isaac was out in the field when their eyes met. It was love at first sight, and it was all because of Abraham's faithful servant, Eliezer, and Rebekah's trust in him.
This is a wonderful story that represents us today. Just like Abraham was looking for a bride for Isaac, God is looking for a Bride for His Son, Jesus. Just like Abraham sent out Eliezer, God also sent out a good and faithful messenger, Brother Branham, to find a Bride for His Son.
Our job is like Rebekah's was. We should listen to the messenger, believe what he is telling us, and get ready to meet the One that he is telling us about: Jesus!
