John The Baptist

John the baptist was the son of Zacharias and Elisabeth.

He was a wilderness man who lived out in the rough desert.

John the baptist ate locusts, also known as grasshoppers, and honey.

He wore clothes made out of camel hair and leather.

John was a mighty prophet of God who told the people that the Messiah was coming soon!

In The Bible:

Matthew 11:7-9

7. And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8. But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.

9. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

Brother Branham Said:

Jesus said, "There wasn't a man ever born, till that time, was as great as John the Baptist." Jesus okayed his Message. He said, "Did you go to hear a wind that shakes the reeds, just bends to everything? Not John." He said, "Then did you go to see a man in fine clothing?" He said, "I say to you, that they that wear fine clothing are of kings' palaces.

But," He said, "what did you go to see then, a prophet? I say unto you, more than a prophet was John. For this is he who was prophesied, or foretold, that, 'He would prepare the way before Thy face.'"

A great man, John, but the world couldn't see it that way. 59-1001

John the Baptist

Many years passed, and Jesus and John were both grown up. John became a mighty prophet of God who lived out in the harsh desert. He was a rugged man who ate wild honey and locusts, and wore camel skin clothes! He preached to people to repent, and he told them that the Messiah was coming soon! John's job was to get the people ready for the Messiah to come, and he would do whatever it took to do his job!

Meanwhile, back in the town of Nazareth, Jesus was also grown up. Everyone knew that He was Someone very special, but they probably didn't completely understand just how special He was!

One day, John was baptizing in the Jordan River when a Man walked up to him. John immediately knew that this was the One that he had been preaching about. John knew that the Messiah would be coming, but now He was finally here! It was Jesus!

John cried out to the people, "This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me." John made sure the people knew that Jesus had come, and He was the One Who God sent to save the world from sin! It was time for Him to come, and now He was here!

John baptized Jesus and saw the Spirit of God coming down from Heaven, along with a Voice saying, "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." It was an incredible day that will never be forgotten!
